Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D) to provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum period. The L&D RN will monitor maternal and fetal well-being, assist during deliveries, educate families, and collaborate with the obstetric care team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, monitor, and care for patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns, uterine contractions, maternal vital signs, and labor progression.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, oxytocin, epidurals, and other prescribed treatments.
- Assist physicians, certified nurse midwives, and obstetric providers during vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
- Recognize and respond promptly to maternal or fetal emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Provide newborn assessments and immediate post-delivery care as appropriate.
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
- Fetal Monitoring certification or competency required or preferred based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of obstetric nursing, fetal monitoring, maternal-newborn care, emergency obstetric procedures, and postpartum care.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$49.03 - $53.91/hour
