Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and the newborn period. The RN will monitor maternal and fetal status, assist with deliveries, provide postpartum and newborn care, and educate families on recovery and infant care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and the newborn period.
- Perform maternal assessments and monitor vital signs, pain, bleeding, and postpartum recovery.
- Monitor fetal heart rate, contractions, and maternal-fetal status during labor.
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries and manage immediate post-delivery care.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, oxytocin, and other prescribed treatments.
- Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage and hypertensive complications.
- Provide routine postpartum care, including fundal checks, incision assessment, breastfeeding support, and pain management.
- Provide newborn care, including vital signs, feeding support, assessments, and routine newborn procedures.
- Monitor newborns for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the appropriate provider.
- Educate parents on breastfeeding, newborn care, safe sleep, discharge instructions, and postpartum recovery.
- Support bonding and parent-infant education throughout the hospital stay.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, midwives, lactation consultants, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and maternity care protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current NRP certification required.
- ACLS certification required/preferred based on assignment requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Mother-Baby, or Newborn experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of maternal, postpartum, and newborn nursing care.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, and newborn care.
- Experience with fetal monitoring, labor induction, cesarean deliveries, and postpartum recovery.
- Experience with newborn assessments, breastfeeding support, and parent education.
- AWHONN fetal monitoring certification preferred.
- Experience managing obstetric and newborn emergencies.

Pay Rate
$71.90 - $76.78/hour
