Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery to provide exceptional care for mothers and newborns throughout the labor and birth process. The RN will monitor maternal and fetal well-being, assist during deliveries, provide patient education, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, family-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor maternal and fetal conditions throughout labor and delivery
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans for obstetric patients
- Administer medications, IV therapies, epidural support, and other prescribed treatments
- Assist physicians and certified nurse midwives during vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Monitor fetal heart tracings and recognize signs requiring immediate intervention
- Provide immediate postpartum care for mothers and newborns
- Educate patients and families on labor, childbirth, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and assist with neonatal stabilization as needed
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Fetal Monitoring certification required or obtained per facility policy
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of obstetric nursing, fetal monitoring, maternal-newborn care, and emergency obstetric interventions
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred
- RNC-OB certification preferred
- Experience in high-risk obstetrics, postpartum, and newborn care
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient education skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required
Pay Rate
$75.71 - $80.59/hour
