Histology Technologist
Position Summary
Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. Perform histology procedures, maintain quality standards, and ensure accurate laboratory documentation.
Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, and process tissue specimens according to established procedures.
- Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Prepare slides for microscopic examination and diagnostic evaluation.
- Perform special stains and immunohistochemistry procedures as assigned.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Perform quality control and ensure accuracy of test results.
- Maintain accurate specimen records and laboratory documentation.
- Follow laboratory safety, infection-control, and regulatory standards.
- Communicate specimen issues or abnormal findings to appropriate laboratory staff.
- Maintain adequate supplies and support efficient laboratory workflow.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- HT or HTL certification through ASCP or equivalent preferred/required as applicable.
- Previous histology or pathology laboratory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of tissue processing, microtomy, staining, and laboratory procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail, technical, organizational, and communication skills.
Pay Rate
$47.51 - $52.39/hour
