Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients. The ICU RN will assess, monitor, and treat patients with life-threatening conditions, manage advanced life-support equipment, administer critical medications, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Continuously monitor patient conditions, including cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory function, and hemodynamic stability
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, vasoactive drips, and other prescribed treatments
- Operate and monitor advanced critical care equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and other life-support devices
- Assist with emergency procedures, code blue events, rapid response situations, and bedside interventions
- Monitor laboratory results, diagnostic studies, and patient responses to treatment, reporting significant changes promptly
- Provide wound care, central line care, and management of invasive monitoring devices
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU or Critical Care nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and emergency response protocols
- Excellent critical-thinking, communication, organizational, and clinical decision-making skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity critical care environment
