Histotechnologist - Histology/Surgical
Position Summary
We are seeking a Histotechnologist to prepare and process tissue specimens for histological examination and surgical pathology. The Histotechnologist will perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and quality control to support accurate diagnosis.
Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, and prepare tissue specimens for processing.
- Process, embed, and section tissue specimens using appropriate techniques.
- Perform routine and special stains, including immunohistochemistry as required.
- Prepare slides for microscopic examination by pathologists.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Perform quality control procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Handle surgical pathology specimens according to established protocols.
- Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation and specimen tracking.
- Communicate with pathologists and laboratory staff regarding specimen issues.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- ASCP certification or eligibility preferred/required based on applicable requirements.
- Previous histology or surgical pathology experience preferred.
- Knowledge of tissue processing, microtomy, staining, and laboratory procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Rate
$37.60 - $42.48/hour
