Position: Surgical Pathology Technician – Histology

According to Penn State Health, the technician is responsible for:

Assisting with and coordinating Surgical Pathology Gross Room activities.
Evaluating patient tissue specimens.
Assisting with or performing gross examination and dissection of tissue.
Dictating/documenting gross findings.
Preparing and submitting tissue cassettes for histological processing.
Ensuring tissue is properly prepared for subsequent histology and microscopic examination.
Organizing work effectively during both routine and unusual situations.
Applying knowledge of anatomy and physiology to specimen handling.

Minimum qualifications

Penn State Health lists:

Associate's degree in a biological science, such as:
- Medical Technology
- Histology
- Cytology
- Certified School of Mortuary Science
- Or an equivalent field
3 years of clinical experience
Some knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Demonstrated ability to organize and perform work under both routine and unusual circumstances

Pay Rate
$17.00 - $17.00/hour
