Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled General Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions. The technologist will provide compassionate patient care, operate ultrasound equipment safely, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely diagnostic imaging services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols
- Prepare, position, and educate patients for ultrasound procedures while ensuring comfort and safety
- Perform abdominal, small parts, OB/GYN, pelvic, and other general ultrasound studies as assigned
- Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
- Evaluate image quality and ensure complete examinations before submission for physician interpretation
- Recognize and report significant or abnormal findings according to department protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), RIS, and PACS
- Perform routine quality control and report equipment malfunctions promptly
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Active state licensure where required
- Current ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification in Abdomen (AB) and/or OB/GYN, or equivalent certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent general diagnostic ultrasound experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of sonographic anatomy, physiology, scanning techniques, and image optimization
- Experience with PACS, RIS, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient care skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hospital, outpatient imaging, emergency department, or women's health settings
- Additional ARDMS certifications such as RVT, Breast (BR), or Pediatric Sonography preferred
- Previous travel or contract imaging experience preferred
- Experience performing a broad range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required
Pay Rate
$64.28 - $69.16/hour
