Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Exercise Physiologist – Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation to develop and implement individualized exercise programs for patients recovering from cardiac and pulmonary conditions. The Exercise Physiologist will perform patient assessments, monitor exercise sessions, educate patients on lifestyle modifications, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe recovery and improve cardiovascular and pulmonary health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive cardiopulmonary assessments, including exercise tolerance and functional capacity evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized exercise prescriptions based on physician referrals and patient needs
- Monitor patients during cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation sessions, including heart rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and symptoms
- Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies and changes in patient condition
- Educate patients and families on heart-healthy lifestyles, exercise, nutrition, smoking cessation, stress management, and risk factor reduction
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure exercise equipment is maintained and safe for patient use
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient outcome monitoring
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required or obtained within the required timeframe
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, or clinical exercise physiology preferred
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology, exercise testing, ECG interpretation, and exercise prescription
- Experience performing graded exercise testing and monitoring patients during rehabilitation sessions
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification preferred
- AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation) experience preferred
- Experience working with cardiac, pulmonary, heart failure, post-surgical, and chronic disease populations
- Previous travel or contract healthcare experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to patient-centered care
Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
