Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER) to provide rapid, high-quality nursing care for patients with acute illnesses, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening conditions. The ER RN will assess, stabilize, and treat patients while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure timely, safe, and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care using established triage protocols.
- Provide direct nursing care for patients with medical, surgical, traumatic, and behavioral health emergencies.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patient conditions, cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
- Assist with trauma resuscitations, emergency procedures, intubations, and code blue situations.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Operate emergency equipment, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, ventilators, and airway management devices.
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, laboratory staff, radiology personnel, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Current PALS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- TNCC certification preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of emergency nursing, trauma care, cardiac monitoring, triage, and critical care interventions.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification preferred.
- Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers.
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred.
- Experience caring for adult and pediatric emergency patients.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency environment.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to delivering patient-centered emergency care.
Pay Rate
$56.66 - $61.53/hour
