Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Patient Financial Services (PFS) SBO Manager to oversee the operations of a Single Business Office (SBO) and lead patient financial services functions. The PFS SBO Manager will manage billing, collections, accounts receivable, customer service, and reimbursement activities while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and exceptional patient financial support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the Patient Financial Services Single Business Office (SBO)
  • Oversee patient billing, insurance claims, collections, payment posting, and accounts receivable processes
  • Monitor revenue cycle performance and implement strategies to improve cash collections and reduce denials
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise PFS staff, providing coaching, training, and performance evaluations
  • Analyze financial reports, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational metrics to improve departmental performance
  • Resolve complex billing issues, insurance disputes, patient account concerns, and reimbursement challenges
  • Collaborate with clinical departments, finance, coding, health information management, and revenue cycle leadership
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and workflow improvements
  • Support audits, compliance initiatives, and quality improvement projects
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting within patient accounting and financial systems
  • Foster excellent customer service while ensuring a positive patient financial experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive Patient Financial Services or Revenue Cycle leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of patient billing, insurance reimbursement, accounts receivable, collections, and revenue cycle operations
  • Experience managing a Single Business Office (SBO) or centralized patient financial services department preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, HIPAA, and healthcare reimbursement regulations
  • Experience with hospital billing systems, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and revenue cycle software
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Pay Rate
$82,000.00 - $128,000.00/year
