Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, assist patients in improving activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, coordination, and functional independence, while promoting recovery and enhancing quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist patients in improving activities of daily living (ADLs), fine motor skills, coordination, strength, and functional mobility
- Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to promote independence and recovery
- Train patients in the safe use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Monitor patient progress and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safety strategies
- Document treatment sessions, patient responses, and progress in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment
- Follow infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license or certification in the state of practice
- Current NBCOT COTA certification required (where applicable)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent COTA experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic interventions, adaptive equipment, and patient care
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), home health, orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, or geriatric settings
- Previous travel or contract therapy experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient education skills
- Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Pay Rate
$37.60 - $42.48/hour
