Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Histologist to perform tissue preparation and histology procedures that support accurate pathological diagnosis. The Histologist will process specimens, prepare microscope slides, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination
  • Perform embedding, microtomy, staining, and coverslipping procedures
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology laboratory equipment
  • Prepare routine and special stains according to laboratory protocols
  • Perform quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results
  • Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Handle specimens using proper safety and infection prevention practices
  • Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support timely diagnostic services
  • Manage laboratory supplies and maintain an organized work environment
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related field
  • Active Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification through ASCP preferred or as required by the facility
  • Minimum 1 year of recent histology laboratory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of tissue processing, microtomy, staining techniques, and laboratory quality control
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hospital, reference, or pathology laboratory settings preferred
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special staining techniques preferred
  • Previous contract or travel laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and other applicable laboratory regulations
  • Strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and patient-centered laboratory services

Pay Rate
$56.66 - $61.53/hour
