Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Nurse (RN) – General Psychiatry / Dual Diagnosis to provide high-quality nursing care for patients with mental health disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders. The RN will assess patients, administer medications, manage behavioral health crises, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote patient safety, stabilization, and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments of patients
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patients for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions
- Assess and manage patients experiencing psychiatric crises or behavioral emergencies
- Monitor patients for safety, suicide risk, withdrawal symptoms, and changes in mental status
- Provide therapeutic communication, emotional support, and patient education
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in treatment planning, interdisciplinary rounds, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and behavioral health policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent psychiatric, behavioral health, or dual diagnosis nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred
- ACLS certification preferred based on assignment
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC) preferred
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or MOAB certification preferred
- Experience in inpatient psychiatric, behavioral health, detoxification, or dual diagnosis treatment settings
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient advocacy skills
Pay Rate
$64.28 - $69.16/hour
