Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Nurse (RN) – General Psychiatry / Dual Diagnosis to provide high-quality nursing care for patients with mental health disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders. The RN will assess patients, administer medications, manage behavioral health crises, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote patient safety, stabilization, and recovery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments of patients
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patients for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions
  • Assess and manage patients experiencing psychiatric crises or behavioral emergencies
  • Monitor patients for safety, suicide risk, withdrawal symptoms, and changes in mental status
  • Provide therapeutic communication, emotional support, and patient education
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in treatment planning, interdisciplinary rounds, and discharge planning
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and behavioral health policies
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent psychiatric, behavioral health, or dual diagnosis nursing experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques
  • Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred
  • ACLS certification preferred based on assignment
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC) preferred
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or MOAB certification preferred
  • Experience in inpatient psychiatric, behavioral health, detoxification, or dual diagnosis treatment settings
  • Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient advocacy skills

Pay Rate
$64.28 - $69.16/hour
