Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to perform complex laboratory testing that supports the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will analyze biological specimens, operate sophisticated laboratory equipment, ensure quality control, and collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver accurate and timely laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, blood bank, coagulation, and urinalysis
- Analyze blood, tissue, body fluids, and other patient specimens with accuracy and precision
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment
- Review, interpret, validate, and report laboratory test results in a timely manner
- Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate test performance
- Recognize abnormal or critical values and promptly notify appropriate healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Follow established laboratory procedures, safety protocols, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist with specimen collection, processing, and handling as needed
- Participate in proficiency testing, laboratory inspections, and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with pathologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure proper storage of reagents and specimens
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related laboratory science from an accredited program
- Active Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license, where required by state regulations
- ASCP (MLS/MT) certification or equivalent preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent clinical laboratory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality assurance, instrumentation, and regulatory standards
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care
