Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Job Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing complex laboratory tests and analyses to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This role requires expertise in operating laboratory equipment, ensuring quality control, and accurately interpreting and reporting results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, and blood banking.
  • Analyze patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) using automated and manual techniques.
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through strict adherence to quality control procedures.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Interpret test results and report findings to physicians and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain proper documentation of laboratory activities and patient records.
  • Follow all laboratory safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
  • Assist in the validation and implementation of new laboratory methods and technologies.
  • Train and mentor junior laboratory staff or interns as needed.
  • Stay updated with advancements in laboratory science and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Certification from a recognized professional body (e.g., ASCP, AMT, or equivalent, depending on region).
  • Valid state or national licensure (if required).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and diagnostic equipment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred (fresh graduates may be considered for entry-level roles).

Working Conditions

  • May require working in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to biological hazards and chemicals; adherence to safety protocols is essential.

Pay Rate
$17.00 - $17.00/hour
