Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) – Gastroenterology to provide high-quality nursing care in an outpatient gastroenterology clinic. The RN will assist with patient assessments, coordinate care, support diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures, provide patient education, and collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and obtain patient medical histories
- Prepare patients for gastroenterology consultations, diagnostic testing, and outpatient procedures
- Assist physicians with GI procedures and provide pre- and post-procedure nursing care
- Administer medications, injections, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and changes in condition, responding appropriately
- Educate patients and caregivers on GI conditions, medications, bowel preparation, dietary recommendations, and post-procedure care
- Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, and continuity of care
- Triage patient phone calls and address clinical concerns within the RN scope of practice
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Collaborate with gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, HIPAA regulations, and clinic policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support efficient clinic operations
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience required
- Previous outpatient clinic or gastroenterology experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of gastrointestinal diseases, endoscopy preparation, medication administration, and patient education
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient setting
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
