Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Circulator Surgery Registered Nurse (OR Circulator RN) to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care in the operating room. The RN will serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, maintaining a sterile environment, coordinating surgical activities, and collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, consent, and surgical site.
- Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures while maintaining a safe and sterile operating environment.
- Coordinate operating room activities and ensure the availability of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor patient status throughout surgical procedures and advocate for patient safety.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as prescribed.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, surgical counts, and specimen handling.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and PACU staff to ensure efficient surgical workflow.
- Recognize and respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies and changes in patient condition.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with AORN standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) circulating nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical procedures, instrumentation, and patient safety.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
