Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist – Labor & Delivery (L&D) to assist obstetricians, nurses, and the surgical team during cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures. The Surgical Technologist will maintain a sterile environment, prepare surgical instruments and supplies, and support safe, high-quality care for mothers and newborns.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare labor and delivery operating rooms for cesarean sections and obstetric procedures
  • Set up and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist surgeons and the surgical team during cesarean deliveries and other procedures
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and pass instruments and supplies efficiently
  • Perform surgical counts before, during, and after procedures
  • Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and transfer as needed
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with aseptic technique, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards
  • Document surgical activities according to facility policies
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery or Obstetrical Surgical Technology experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, obstetric procedures, and infection prevention practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience assisting with cesarean sections, emergency C-sections, and obstetric surgical procedures
  • Previous travel or contract surgical technology experience preferred
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred based on facility requirements
  • Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required

Pay Rate
$56.66 - $61.53/hour
