Position Summary:
We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to provide scrub support during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist will prepare the operating room, maintain the sterile field, anticipate the surgical team's needs, handle instruments and supplies, and support safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
- Perform surgical scrub and maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures.
- Pass instruments, sutures, medications, and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping.
- Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, sharps, and other surgical items.
- Handle and prepare specimens according to established procedures.
- Operate and assist with surgical equipment and technology as appropriate.
- Maintain the sterile field and immediately report any breaks in sterile technique.
- Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
- Ensure instruments and supplies are properly handled and available for scheduled cases.
- Follow infection prevention, surgical safety, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred/required based on position requirements.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical technologist experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, sterile technique, and infection prevention.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain focused and effective in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multiple surgical specialties, including general, orthopedic, vascular, cardiovascular, gynecologic, or ENT procedures.
- Experience with complex and emergency surgical cases.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Previous hospital operating room experience.
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and work effectively under pressure.
- Commitment to patient safety and high-quality surgical care.
Pay Rate
$45.22 - $50.10/hour
