Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) to assist surgeons and the surgical team before, during, and after operative procedures. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile field, passing instruments, and ensuring the availability of supplies and equipment to support safe and efficient surgical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Scrub in and assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies during surgery.
- Prepare and handle surgical specimens according to established protocols.
- Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with the circulating nurse.
- Inspect, assemble, and troubleshoot surgical instruments and equipment before and after procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and room turnover.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments.
- Maintain accurate documentation as required.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, AORN standards, HIPAA regulations, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through NBSTSA or equivalent certification required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical technologist experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, sterile technique, and aseptic practices.
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during procedures.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hospital operating rooms, ambulatory surgery centers, or specialty surgical facilities.
- Experience assisting with general, orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurosurgical, vascular, OB/GYN, ENT, urology, and robotic surgical procedures.
- Previous travel or contract surgical technologist experience preferred.
- Strong ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room environment.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules.
Pay Rate
$49.03 - $53.91/hour
