Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will help patients improve functional abilities, independence, mobility, and daily living skills through individualized therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, and functional skills.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and functional tasks.
- Train patients in adaptive techniques, assistive devices, and safety strategies.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress or concerns to the supervising OT.
- Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, home programs, and safe functional techniques.
- Recommend and assist with appropriate adaptive equipment and home modifications.
- Maintain accurate treatment documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with OTs, physicians, nurses, PTs, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and organizational policies.
- Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Active COTA license in the state of practice.
- Current NBCOT certification required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent COTA experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, ADL training, rehabilitation, and patient safety.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, SNF, home health, or long-term care settings.
- Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, post-surgical, or medically complex patients.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
- Strong clinical documentation and time-management skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Pay Rate
$32.00 - $35.00/hour
