Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Provide skilled occupational therapy services under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist to help patients improve functional abilities, independence, and quality of life. The COTA will implement treatment plans, assist with therapeutic activities, monitor patient responses, and support safe patient care.
Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, and daily functioning.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and functional tasks.
- Provide training in adaptive techniques and use of assistive equipment.
- Monitor patient responses and report progress or changes to the Occupational Therapist.
- Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, home programs, and safety techniques.
- Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow patient safety and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current COTA license or certification as required by the state.
- NBCOT certification preferred/required as applicable.
- Previous clinical or rehabilitation experience preferred.
- Strong patient-care, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
Pay Rate
$41.28 - $46.16/hour
