Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement treatment plans, assist patients with functional activities and daily living skills, monitor progress, and promote independence and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, cognition, and functional skills.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
- Provide training in transfers, mobility, positioning, and use of adaptive equipment.
- Assist with therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and fine motor interventions.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and report changes or concerns to the Occupational Therapist.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety, positioning, and adaptive techniques.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment.
- Document treatment sessions accurately and timely in the EMR.
- Participate in patient care planning and interdisciplinary communication.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current COTA certification through NBCOT or eligibility as required by the state.
- Active Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of practice.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent COTA experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, rehabilitation, ADLs, and patient safety.
- Excellent communication, organization, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, SNF, home health, or pediatric settings.
- Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, post-surgical, or medically complex patients.
- Experience with adaptive equipment, splinting, positioning, and functional mobility.
- Strong patient and caregiver education skills.
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Pay Rate
$41.28 - $46.16/hour
