Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans to help patients improve functional independence, perform activities of daily living (ADLs), and achieve rehabilitation goals while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Assist patients in improving activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), coordination, strength, and fine motor skills.
- Provide therapeutic exercises and functional activities to enhance mobility and independence.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate treatment responses to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and safety techniques.
- Document patient treatments, progress, and outcomes accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Prepare treatment areas and maintain therapy equipment in a safe and organized condition.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification through NBCOT.
- Active Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of practice.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic activities, ADL training, adaptive equipment, and patient mobility.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$41.28 - $46.16/hour
