Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to assist Occupational Therapists in delivering therapeutic interventions that help patients improve independence and functional performance in daily activities. The COTA will implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, educate patients and caregivers, and collaborate with the rehabilitation team to achieve optimal outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist
  • Assist patients in improving activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), mobility, coordination, strength, and fine motor skills
  • Provide therapeutic exercises, functional activities, adaptive equipment training, and neuromuscular re-education
  • Monitor patient progress and report changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safety strategies
  • Assist with patient transfers, positioning, splinting, and use of adaptive devices as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate treatment documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license or certification in the state of practice
  • Current NBCOT certification required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent COTA experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic interventions, adaptive equipment, and patient safety
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), outpatient rehabilitation, home health, or long-term care settings
  • Previous travel or contract therapy experience preferred
  • Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, geriatric, or post-surgical patients
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to patient-centered care
  • Ability to manage multiple patients efficiently in a fast-paced rehabilitation environment

Pay Rate
$45.08 - $49.96/hour
