Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, assist patients in improving daily living skills, mobility, coordination, and functional independence while promoting recovery and enhancing quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), fine motor skills, coordination, balance, and functional mobility
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, endurance, and independence
- Train patients in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Monitor patient progress and report findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safety strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe, clean treatment environment
- Follow infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of practice
- Current NBCOT COTA certification required where applicable
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent occupational therapy assistant experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic interventions, adaptive equipment, and patient care
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing, home health, orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, or geriatric settings
- Previous travel or contract therapy experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient education skills
- Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Pay Rate
$37.48 - $42.36/hour
