Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to provide rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement treatment plans, assist patients in improving functional abilities and independence, and support recovery from injury, illness, surgery, or disability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist patients with therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, and daily living skills
- Train patients in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safety practices
- Document treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program
- Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license or certification in the state of practice
- Current NBCOT certification required (where applicable)
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic interventions, and patient care practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), home health, or pediatric settings
- Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, post-surgical, geriatric, or medically complex patients
- Previous travel or contract therapy experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient education skills
- Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
Pay Rate
$41.28 - $46.16/hour
