Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide therapeutic services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, assist patients in improving functional independence, and help restore the skills needed for daily living and meaningful activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist patients in improving activities of daily living (ADLs), fine motor skills, coordination, strength, balance, and functional mobility
- Provide therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions to promote independence and recovery
- Instruct patients in the safe use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and functional techniques
- Monitor patient progress and communicate observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Document treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Assist with splint application, positioning, and therapeutic activities as directed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas in a clean and organized condition
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license/certification in the state of practice
- Current NBCOT COTA certification required
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent COTA experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic interventions, and patient care practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Pay Rate
$43.56 - $48.44/hour
