Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, assist patients in improving daily living skills and functional independence, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), upper extremity function, coordination, balance, and fine motor skills
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, self-care training, adaptive equipment training, and functional activities
- Instruct patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, energy conservation, joint protection, and the proper use of assistive devices
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate progress or changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist with splint application, positioning, and therapeutic activities within the scope of practice
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment sessions and patient progress in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, discharge planning, patient education, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment
- Promote patient independence and functional recovery through compassionate, evidence-based rehabilitation care
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license/certification in the state of practice
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, rehabilitation techniques, anatomy, and patient care practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
- Strong clinical observation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered rehabilitation care
Pay Rate
$37.48 - $42.36/hour
