Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide high-quality rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, assist patients in improving functional independence, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to help patients achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist to address individualized patient goals
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), upper extremity function, fine motor skills, coordination, balance, cognition, and functional mobility
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, transfer training, splinting, positioning, and the use of adaptive equipment as directed by the Occupational Therapist
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, energy conservation, joint protection, fall prevention, adaptive equipment, and compensatory strategies
• Monitor patient progress, document treatment outcomes, and communicate observations and recommendations to the supervising Occupational Therapist
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment sessions, patient progress, and outcomes in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, discharge planning, and patient education initiatives
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment while adhering to infection prevention and patient safety standards
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements governing occupational therapy practice
• Promote patient independence, functional recovery, and participation in meaningful daily activities through compassionate, patient-centered rehabilitation care
Required Qualifications:
• Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of practice
• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Current NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) certification required where applicable
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, rehabilitation techniques, anatomy, and patient care practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based rehabilitation care
Pay Rate
$41.28 - $46.16/hour
