Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support Occupational Therapists in delivering high-quality rehabilitation services to patients with physical, cognitive, developmental, or functional impairments. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, monitor patient progress, and educate patients and caregivers to promote independence, improve daily functioning, and enhance quality of life.


Key Responsibilities:

• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), fine motor skills, upper extremity function, coordination, balance, strength, and cognitive abilities
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, functional mobility training, adaptive techniques, and task-oriented activities to achieve rehabilitation goals
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, safety strategies, and compensatory methods
• Monitor patient progress, document treatment outcomes, and communicate observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist
• Assist with splint fabrication, positioning, transfer training, and the use of adaptive devices as directed by the Occupational Therapist
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment sessions, patient progress, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, discharge planning, and patient education initiatives
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic treatment environment while following infection prevention and patient safety protocols
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, regulatory standards, and ethical practice guidelines
• Promote patient independence, functional recovery, and participation in meaningful daily activities through compassionate, patient-centered care


Required Qualifications:

• Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of practice
• Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Current NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) certification required/preferred based on facility requirements
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, rehabilitation techniques, anatomy, and patient care practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
• Strong clinical observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based rehabilitation care

Pay Rate
$37.48 - $42.36/hour
