Job Title: Medical Coder (Acute Care)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder with experience in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of coding systems, medical terminology, and healthcare billing guidelines, along with the ability to support coder training and resolve coding-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform accurate medical coding for acute care, outpatient, and emergency department (ED) cases
Apply appropriate ICD-9-CM, ICD-10, and CPT-4 codes
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, payor requirements, and federal billing regulations
Review clinical documentation to assign correct codes
Research and resolve coding discrepancies and issues
Support training and mentoring of coding staff
Utilize coding tools such as encoder systems and 3M/HDS applications

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience, preferably in an acute care setting
Certified Coding Specialist ( CCS) certification required
Proficiency in:
- MS Word and Excel
- ICD-9-CM, ICD-10, CPT-4 coding systems
- Encoder and 3M/HDS coding applications
Strong knowledge of:
- Anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
- Coding guidelines and compliance standards
- Payor and federal billing guidelines
Ability to analyze and research coding-related issues
Experience with outpatient and ED coding

Pay Rate
$38.05 - $42.93/hour
