Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
Position Summary
Provide safe and accurate medication assistance to patients or residents under the direction of licensed nursing staff. Support daily patient care by administering medications as permitted by state regulations and facility policies while monitoring patient needs and safety.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications according to prescribed orders and established procedures.
- Verify medication, dosage, timing, and patient information before administration.
- Monitor patients for medication effects and report changes or adverse reactions to nursing staff.
- Assist patients with medication-related needs and provide basic health education.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records and documentation.
- Follow proper medication storage, handling, and disposal procedures.
- Assist with basic patient care and activities of daily living as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
- Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and patient-care standards.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved Medication Aide or Medication Technician training program.
- Current Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification or state-required credential.
- Previous healthcare or long-term care experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow medication administration procedures and work under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
Pay Rate
$26.17 - $31.05/hour
