Position Summary:
We are seeking a Certified Echocardiography Technician / Medical Assistant to support cardiovascular diagnostic services within a cardiology clinic setting. This dual-role position involves performing diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring cardiovascular conditions while also supporting clinical operations as a Medical Assistant when echocardiography services are not being performed. The role requires strong technical imaging skills, patient care expertise, and the ability to maintain efficient clinical workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) according to established protocols
• Obtain high-quality cardiac ultrasound images for physician interpretation
• Perform 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler imaging
• Accurately measure and document cardiac structures and functional findings
• Prepare and position patients for echocardiography procedures while ensuring comfort and safety
• Assist physicians during stress echocardiography procedures when required
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure proper calibration and quality control
• Document diagnostic studies within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Follow American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) imaging standards and regulatory requirements
• Support patient preparation and clinical operations when imaging procedures are not being performed
• Record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, weight, and oxygen saturation
• Perform EKGs and assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures
• Maintain exam room readiness and clinical supply inventory
• Assist with patient intake, documentation, and medication reconciliation
• Support patient education and clinic workflow efficiency while maintaining infection control protocols
Required Qualifications:
• Certification in Echocardiography such as RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer), RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer), or CCI Certification
• Completion of an accredited Echocardiography program
• Current BLS certification
• Active Radiologic Technologist license in the state of Maryland
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, pathology, and echocardiography imaging techniques
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Strong interpersonal, patient communication, and documentation skills
Pay Rate
$30.00 - $30.00/hour
