Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) to support patient care by ensuring the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. The technician will maintain compliance with infection prevention standards while ensuring sterile supplies are readily available for surgical and procedural areas.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Operate sterilization equipment, including steam sterilizers, low-temperature sterilizers, and washer-disinfectors.
  • Perform instrument inspection, functionality testing, and tray assembly according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Monitor sterilization cycles using biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation.
  • Inspect sterile supplies for integrity, expiration dates, and proper storage conditions.
  • Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and notify appropriate staff of shortages.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions promptly.
  • Collaborate with operating room staff, endoscopy personnel, and other clinical departments to meet instrument needs.
  • Ensure compliance with AAMI, AORN, OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and facility policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Central Sterile Processing program preferred.
  • Active Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through CBSPD required.
  • Current BLS certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Central Sterile Processing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of sterilization methods, surgical instrumentation, infection prevention, and sterile processing standards.
  • Ability to identify, assemble, and maintain a wide variety of surgical instrument sets.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.

Pay Rate
$45.22 - $50.10/hour
