Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures. The RN will coordinate perioperative care, monitor patient recovery, collaborate with the cardiovascular surgical team, and ensure safe, high-quality care throughout the surgical experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care for cardiac surgery patients
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Prepare patients for cardiac surgical procedures and provide preoperative education
- Monitor patient condition, vital signs, hemodynamic status, and recovery following surgery
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and postoperative complications
- Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, medications, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and cardiovascular surgical care standards
Required Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac surgery, CVOR, cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), or cardiac step-down nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of cardiac surgical procedures, hemodynamic monitoring, and postoperative cardiac care
- Excellent critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced cardiovascular surgical environment
Pay Rate
$73.42 - $78.30/hour
