Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health RN to provide nursing care to patients with mental health and behavioral health needs. The RN will assess patients, administer medications and treatments, monitor behavioral and clinical changes, support therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive physical, mental, and behavioral health assessments.
  • Monitor patients for changes in mood, behavior, mental status, and overall condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and monitor therapeutic response.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and supportive patient environment.
  • Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and management of behavioral emergencies.
  • Monitor patients for suicidal ideation, self-harm risk, aggression, or other safety concerns.
  • Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary care conferences.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, coping strategies, and wellness.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, counselors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
  • Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and behavioral health protocols.
  • Promote patient dignity, respect, recovery, and patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent behavioral health, psychiatric, or acute-care nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, behavioral health assessment, crisis intervention, and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication, clinical judgment, de-escalation, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred.
  • Previous inpatient psychiatric, behavioral health, substance use, or mental health experience.
  • Experience with crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology.
  • Experience caring for patients with co-occurring medical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Strong therapeutic communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed, patient-centered care.

Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
