Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and creative Activities Coordinator / Recreational Therapist to develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs that promote the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of patients and residents. The ideal candidate will create engaging activities tailored to individual needs while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to enhance quality of life and rehabilitation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient or resident interests, abilities, and therapeutic needs.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement individualized and group recreational therapy programs.
- Plan activities that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.
- Facilitate therapeutic recreation sessions, leisure activities, community outings, and wellness programs.
- Monitor patient participation, progress, and response to therapy interventions.
- Maintain activity calendars, schedules, and required documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to support individualized care plans.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on the benefits of recreational therapy and leisure activities.
- Ensure activity areas, equipment, and supplies are maintained in a safe and organized manner.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, or a related field.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Current BLS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent recreational therapy or activities coordination experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles, rehabilitation techniques, and patient-centered programming.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), long-term care (LTC), behavioral health, or acute care settings.
- Experience working with geriatric, neurological, orthopedic, or medically complex patients.
- Knowledge of dementia care and cognitive stimulation programs.
- Ability to organize engaging therapeutic activities for diverse patient populations.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Pay Rate
$61.23 - $66.11/hour
